"Blessed are the peacemakers..."
Thursday night several members of The Table attended a forum on violence in our city. We learned that Little Rock is in the midst of a two-year trend of escalating violence. As of the first of September, Little Rock has suffered 45 homicides, already 3 more than all of 2016. And these murders aren't just "in the streets." Over a third are cases of domestic violence: relationships that began with a vow to love one another for better or worse ending in death.
These acts of violence point to the antagonistic nature of this world. We experience bitter divisions across lines of politics, race, economics, and religion.
Our communities are desperate for peace.
This Sunday we will continue our series, Fruitful Faith, by examining peace. Join us at 142 Booker St at 10am to discuss how we can be peacemakers in our city.
